macemu

Classic Mac software, running in your browser tab

Privacy

The short version: files you open here never leave your computer, and there is no account to make.

Your files

The emulator is WebAssembly running in your browser. When you drop a file in, it is read by JavaScript on your own machine and passed into the emulated Macintosh's memory. No upload happens. There is no server that could receive it.

Anything you save inside the emulated Mac is written to your browser's own storage on your own device. It is not synced, not backed up and not visible to this site's operators. Clearing site data for this domain deletes it permanently.

What is measured

Aggregate analytics: which pages are visited, roughly where from, whether an emulator booted successfully. No account, no profile, no cross-site tracking, and nothing that identifies you personally.

No advertising is served at the time of writing. If that changes, this page changes with it before it happens.

Third parties

Hosting is Cloudflare Pages, which sees request logs as any web host does. Disk images and ROMs are served from Cloudflare R2. Links out to archives such as the Internet Archive and Macintosh Garden are ordinary links; those sites have their own policies.
