macemu is free to use and provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind. It emulates hardware from the 1980s and 1990s; things will occasionally not work, and no guarantee is made that any particular piece of software will run.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for what you do with the software you run here and for what you drop into the loader. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to use.

Software on this site

Each title page records where the software came from and on what footing it is here. Nothing commercially available today is hosted. Rights holders: the takedown page is a 48-hour promise.

The site's own code

The site's code is open source. The emulators are separate projects under their own licences — Mini vMac, Basilisk II and SheepShaver are GPL, and their sources are linked from the repository. Apple's ROMs and system software are Apple's and are not licensed by this site to anybody.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of this site — including the loss of anything you saved inside an emulated machine. Those saves live in your browser and are as durable as your browser's storage, which is to say: do not keep anything irreplaceable there.
